Golden Globes 2019: What Will Win And What Should Win

The day is finally here for the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards, airing tonight at 8 pm ET on NBC hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. Other awards ceremonies this year have proven to be extremely unpredictable, and given that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is known for their upsets, we can only expect the Golden Globes to be the same way.

Part of what makes the Golden Globes so hard to call this year is that certain films have arguably been miscategorized. For example, A Star is Born was classified as a drama rather than as a musical. As such, it may steal the thunder from other expected winners in the drama categories, and other contenders in the musical/comedy categories are given a chance.

Also worthy of note is that the HFPA has honored quite a few audience favorites with nominations this year, including Black Panther, which was the highest grossing film of 2018 at the domestic box office. Will they select those crowd-pleasers to win, or will they go with more artistic prestige films? We will find out tonight. Below are POPAXIOM’s predictions and what we think deserves to win.
